"Golden Honeyeater"
(1976)
watercolor on illustration board.
Painted on the artist’s first trip to Micronesia in 1976. Labeled as “Golden Honeyeater” because, at the time, this bird was thought to belong to the Meliphagidae. Research by the artist and other ornithologists later determined that this beautiful bird is an aberrant white-eye (Zosteropidae).
